Privacy Policy.

We believe transparency is a feature, not a footnote. Here's exactly what Twiq does — and doesn't — collect.

Open source No tracking No ads No data selling
EFFECTIVE DATE

This Privacy Policy explains how Twiq ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our Chrome extension, website, and related services. By using Twiq, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1

Information We Collect

DOM & page context you explicitly capture

When you activate Twiq and click on elements, we process the DOM snapshot, CSS selectors, bounding box coordinates, and React component metadata of the specific element you targeted. This data is generated locally in your browser. It is only transmitted when you explicitly copy the Markdown output and paste it elsewhere.

Console errors (last 60 seconds)

Twiq buffers the most recent 60 seconds of console.error and unhandled Promise rejections from the page you are inspecting. This data is held in memory only and included in your Markdown report when you copy. It never leaves your machine except through your intentional clipboard action.

Viewport metadata

We detect your current viewport dimensions and device type (Mobile / Tablet / Desktop) to help AI agents generate responsive code. This information is purely derived from browser APIs and is included in your clipboard output.

2

What We Don't Collect

No keystroke logging
We do not record your keyboard input outside of Twiq's own shortcut handlers.
No network interception
We do not read, modify, or log network request bodies or headers.
No cookies or tracking
We do not set cookies, use fingerprinting, or embed third-party analytics.
No user accounts
Twiq has no auth system. We do not collect names, emails, or passwords.
No page content storage
We never store full page HTML, text content, or screenshots on our servers.
No AI training data
We do not use your captured data to train models or improve AI systems.

How We Use Information

All data processing happens locally in your browser. The information you capture:

  • Is compiled into a Markdown report in your browser's memory
  • Is copied to your clipboard only when you press Alt+C or click the copy button
  • Is never sent to our servers or any third party
  • Is cleared from memory when you exit Inspect Mode or close the page
4

Extension Permissions

Twiq requests the minimum Chrome permissions necessary to function:

activeTab
Read DOM of the current tab when you activate inspect mode
LOCAL ONLY
clipboardWrite
Write generated Markdown to your clipboard
LOCAL ONLY
storage
Save your preference settings (detail level, marker colors)
LOCAL ONLY
Twiq does not request <all_urls>, webRequest, or cookies permissions. We cannot read your data on every site — only the active tab when you toggle Inspect Mode.
5

Data Storage & Retention

In-memory buffer

Captured data exists only in your browser's memory. It is destroyed when you exit Inspect Mode or close the tab.

Local preferences

Your settings (detail level, marker colors) are stored locally via chrome.storage.local. We cannot access them.

Clipboard content

Once you copy Markdown to your clipboard, Twiq has no control over it. Treat it as you would any clipboard data.

Server-side

We do not operate backend servers that receive or store your captured data. No logs, no databases, no caches.

6

Third-Party Services

Twiq does not embed third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. Our website uses no cookies or external tracking. The only external resources loaded are:

  • Tailwind CSS CDN (styling)
  • Google Fonts (Space Grotesk, JetBrains Mono, Instrument Serif)
  • Font Awesome (icons)

Each of these services may have their own privacy policies. We do not control their data collection.

7

Open Source Transparency

Twiq's extension source code is fully open source. Anyone can audit what the extension does. We believe code transparency is the strongest privacy guarantee. If you find a privacy concern, you can open an issue or submit a pull request.

8

Children's Privacy

Twiq is a developer tool intended for professional use. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. If you believe we have inadvertently received data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.

9

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by placing a notice in the extension or on our website. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
